Respiratory Care WA partners with GPs and other health professionals to provide accessible, community-based respiratory assessment, education and support that complements primary care and helps improve outcomes for people living with asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

Our multidisciplinary team of Respiratory Specialists, Respiratory Health Nurses, Respiratory Scientists and Educators supports patients to better understand and manage their condition, improve self-management skills and achieve better long-term respiratory health. Family members and carers are included where appropriate.

Following each appointment, assessment results and education summaries are provided to the patient’s GP or referring health professional to support coordinated, ongoing care.

We provide education and practical support to help patients better understand and manage their respiratory condition, including:

  • Understanding asthma and COPD, including symptoms, triggers and treatment
  • Using prescribed medications correctly
  • Checking and optimising inhaler technique
  • Setting personalised management goals
  • Developing and reviewing personalised Asthma and/or COPD Care Plans

Our services are fully bulk-billed and available at no cost to eligible patients. They include:

  • Lung function testing
  • Individual face-to-face and telehealth consultations
  • Respiratory education
  • Community-based respiratory programs

Services are delivered through our Respiratory Hubs across Perth and the South West, as well as outreach pop-up clinics, bringing together assessment, specialist review and education in one convenient location.

Patients across Western Australia living with asthma and/or COPD can be referred to Respiratory Care WA at no cost.

A referral from a GP or Nurse Practitioner is required for appointments at our Adults, Older Adults and Children’s Respiratory Hubs.
