Government House marks the start of National Asthma Week

His Excellency the Honourable Chris Dawson AC APM, Governor of Western Australia, and Mrs Darrilyn Dawson hosted Respiratory Care WA and guests at Government House on 1 September 2026 to mark the beginning of National Asthma Week.

The evening brought together Respiratory Care WA consumers, supporters, healthcare professionals, researchers, partners, and community members who share a common goal: helping Western Australians living with asthma and other respiratory conditions live a better quality of life.

During the event, Respiratory Care WA CEO Rael Rivers announced the launch of the organisation’s new three-year strategy.

“The strategy reflects Respiratory Care WA’s commitment to strengthening continuity of care, increasing awareness and advocacy for respiratory health, and ensuring the organisation remains sustainable and responsive to the evolving needs of the community,” Ms Rivers said.

“Most importantly, it recognises that lasting change can only be achieved through collaboration. We will continue to work alongside consumers, carers, healthcare providers, community organisations, researchers, government, and funding partners to improve respiratory health outcomes across our state and drive transformative respiratory care.”
