Respiratory Care WA is excited to launch its new Respiratory Digital Health Service as of tomorrow (1 October 2026), providing free respiratory care, education and support via telehealth to people living with chronic respiratory conditions across Western Australia.
Supported by funding from the Australian Government under the PHN Program and commissioned by WA Primary Health Alliance, the service has been designed to improve access to respiratory care for people living with conditions such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), particularly in regional, rural and remote communities.
Respiratory Care WA CEO, Rael Rivers, said the service will help more Western Australians access timely respiratory support and education, regardless of where they live.
“Everyone deserves access to quality respiratory care. Through this service, people can connect with our experienced respiratory team from wherever they are, helping them build the knowledge and confidence to take control of their respiratory health,” said Ms Rivers.
Delivered by Respiratory Care WA’s team of experienced educators and nurses, the Respiratory Digital Health Service provides self-management support, respiratory education and care coordination via telehealth.
The service also assists people transitioning from hospital or specialist care back to their GP, helping to strengthen connections between patients and healthcare providers, improve continuity of care and reduce avoidable hospital presentations.
Healthcare professionals can refer eligible patients through the Refer a Patient webpage. People living with a chronic respiratory condition can also self-refer directly on the Referrals webpage, making it easy to access free respiratory support and education from anywhere in Western Australia.
