I am from a school

In the last 60 years, we have educated thousands of coaches and physical education teachers on asthma management in sports and upskilled more than 150,000 teachers.

If you are a teacher, carer or parent, we can help you create a safe environment for students with asthma. Understanding more about asthma and what to do in the event of an asthma flare-up could save a student’s life.

School staff training

Respiratory Care WA provides professional development training for WA school staff. Sessions take approximately one hour and include:

  • Physiology of asthma, medications and devices
  • Triggers in the school environment, focusing on exercise-induced asthma
  • How to recognise an asthma flare-up
  • Asthma first aid and how to manage an emergency

Training delivery options:

In person or VC – All school staff training

We provide face-to-face and VC training for WA metropolitan school staff, which covers interactive asthma first aid simulations and managing students with asthma while on external school activities such as camps and interschool carnivals.

Please fill out the request form below. For regional school staff training, please reach out to our Community Outreach team to discuss video conferencing options.

Online – Individual staff training

Individual teachers can access free online asthma first aid training through Asthma Australia.

Do Blue. Do You.

Do Blue. Do You. is a school initiative aimed at reducing the stigma, increasing asthma education and keeping everyone safe by asking students and teachers to “do blue” in their own unique way to raise awareness of asthma.

We want to help teach children to be inclusive and look after their classmates and friends with asthma.
